Back for a return season following a SOLD OUT run in 2018!

It has a name… But CK spends her childhood convinced that she’ll be committed if anyone finds out… so she counts… Counts to contain…

Toni and director, Sylvaine Strike, have woven together a compelling narrative exploring the life of fictional character, CK, a little girl burdened by the pathological carelessness of her parents. CK goes through her journey with her loyal dog, Luigi, who is always by her side, keeping cavey as she digs through everything carefully.

The material for Cottonwool Kid is garnered and loosely based on Toni Morkel’s autobiographical material.

Excellent theatre. Its been a long time since I've experienced an actress with such versatility and skill. Sylvaine's direction is also marvellous.

As actress stepped onto the stage with an almost clowning stride, I thought 'that Strike style magic!'). But soon there was less of that and more of the wonderful acting of Toni Morkel. As CK grows up Toni transforms her from an unfortunate, anxious but (for the audience) amusing child into a character unsettlingly close to the actress herself. For me, once i realised that this was about the real person in front of me it became almost unbearable to watch. The end spoke of a human scale triumph, as I think of the play today - that wonderful dog, the Strike signature delicate but clear - the sadness and the triumph are balanced but dipping towards the side of happiness.

Fantastic. What a crazy, beautiful journey. Like Alice in Wonderland, but the magic is real life (and Toni Morkel).

We loved CWK! Poignant, funny, quirky and original! It has legs and should travel to Festivals! What we like and look for at PopArt: Work should always push limits, be out of the box, extend audiences and performers’ vision and experience. Even shock, in terms of gender, culture, nudity and language. Work at PopArt must be different and without boundaries , and if possible original. It also has to be of exeptionally high standard and most important of all be no longer than 60-90 minutes and run without an interval! Most productions we have seen fulfill these criteria! Thank you very much! Love, DAWN & DES

The show was outstanding! I just love Toni Morkel, she is exceptionally talented. It is always a pleasure to see her perform. And the same may be said of Sylvaine Strike. Toni and Sylvaine ... a winning combination.

Startling. Intriguing. Well done. Only quibble was a scene near the beginning where she was offstage and nothing was happening on stage. A great piece of theatre. And so chuffed PopArt has aircon!!
