"EXHIBITION"

A story of an old man who has painted his rough past through murals.

The play talks to issues of the lasting effects of abuse of a child by a mother, impact of violence from a man to aspirant lover and the rejection of a child by his father. Exhibition is about a vicious cycle, of abuse and the impact that it leaves in one’s psyche. Different parts of a man’s psyche are depicted in this experimental masterpiece.

Inner conflict, childhood problems, and questions of acceptance are amongst the prominent themes. Brilliant acting, exceptional dialogue and the effective use of dance, percussion and vocals. A compound dialogue, music, song, prose, bit of poetry, and beautiful dance movements to create, capture, and provide a glimpse into the more intimate details of an abused victor.

In "Exhibition" we meet Mkhuseli Grootboom a 70 Old painter. Who’s full of life and with a broken past. There is a mural of his mother, a woman that only exist in Mkhuseli's imagination, who is now a moving mural. A soft yet abusive woman, and there is a Dancer and a percussionist who are also in Mkhuseli's imagination about his life.

An African man whose song and percussions add another dimension of flavour to an already engaging drama.
