Workshops may be particularly useful to young budding clowns as well as actors who wish to gain skills in vulnerability and presence.

Workshops are open to all ages and skill levels.

A Two-part Workshop Series for Actors and Theatremakers!
Daniel Buckland (The God Complex, The Travellers, Cirque Du Soleil) and Maude Sandham (Tracks, Les Balladins) bring their combined knowledges of clowning and play together to bring you two fantastic workshops. Workshop can be attended separately or in sequence to help build your skills and work towards the incubation of new work. Buckland brings years of experience having performed internationally as clown for Cirque Du Soleil's Saltimbanco and Love shows . Sandham shares international Lecoq based training in Bouffon, Grotesque and Clowning from The London International Shool of Performaing Arts.

Daniel Buckland is an actor, director, teacher and theatremaker who has been working professionally both locally and internationally for over ten years. He recently returned from a two year tour performing in Cirque du Soleil's 'Saltimbanco'. His other theatre credits include Cirque du Soleil's 'Love', FTH:K's 'Wombtide', Sylvaine Strike's 'The Travellers' and James Ncgobo's 'Master Harold and the boys'. He is the Co Artistic Director of Dark Laugh theatre Company whose production of 'The Butcher Brothers' also directed by Sylvaine Strike, was awarded the 2011 Naledi Award for Best Cutting Edge Production and a Standard Bank Ovation Award. He has recently collaborated with Strike in the production of the Standard Bank Ovation Award winning one man show The God Complex and is currently working for the Motion Capture animation studio Flying Circus.

Maude Sandham specialises in Physical and Devised Theatre. Sandham was chosen for her directing merits as one of five young women in theatre for the Olive Tree Theatre’s Women’s Theatre Festival in 2014 and is the Wits So Solo 2017 featured artist. Sandham studied Directing at Rhodes University (2012- 2013) as well as Devising Theatre and Performance under Thomas Prattki at The London International School of Performing Arts in Berlin (2016). Sandham is the creator of the Naledi Award nominated Ntombi (2016), as well as Actress & Girl (2015), Eidos (2015), The Lighthouse (2016), Blue (2016), Ingrid (2016), Amantombazane (2016), Los Asseblief ‘n boodskap (2017) and Tracks (2018). Sandham has recently returned fro arts residency in Cochabamba, Bolivia where she worked as a director and teacher at the Fundacion Ensenarte Social Circus. Her most recent clown work Les Balladins has performed in South America and Europe.
