New Nights with Tats Nkonzo presents Whites (A conversation about Race)

6 performances between Jan. 13, 2019 and June 9, 2019

90mins
South Africans are known to be able to laugh at themselves. So... Let’s talk about race, baby.

Facilitated by comedian, Tats Nkonzo, ‘Whites: a conversation about race’ is a safe space for comic and crowd, alike, to engage in candid, uncomfortable and necessary convos around race.

All material is based on TRUE LIFE JOKES.

No phones. No recordings. Just honesty.

R100 online. R 120 at the door.

I have been to many big comedy stand up shows in big sold out venues, but yesterday was by far the best comedy show I have ever been to!!! The entire show was intimate, nothing compares to that. Tats is an exceptional host, those guitar cords hit home. The unrehearsed crowd involvement was insane, I've never seen any comedian pull that off! This guy's creativity was on steroids! I really enjoyed the suprise entertainment from Nick, amazing voice (needs to polish the falsetto though lol). I've seen so many of Tumi's performances, but yesterday I rediscovered her when she was not performing, she was onest and raw, I realised that even in her true natural state she is actually a very funny person! I thoroughly enjoyed myself, thank you POP Art and team!

It was one of the most exceptional events I have attended. It was intellectual, emotional, honest and beautiful. If we want to nation build, we need more spaces like this! I know the next one won't be the same but this series is fire!!

Great show, otherwise if we can start promptly and finish on time that would be awesome.

It was refreshing, unexpectedly different, very intimate and engaging, entertaining with memorable humourous moments...it was my first and I will certainly be back. Started late though....😕

Hi, I enjoyed the show. That night was my first attendence, therefore its unorthodox way was new. Regards, Puyi

Really fantastic evening - perhaps ran a little too long - but only realised that, after it was all over. Great platform for new talent... and what an amazing opportunity to sit under Loyiso Gola's nose! Many many thanks!

Loved the show and it's format very much. Such a great delivery of comedy and satire. Definitely recommending it to my friends.

Loved it - this what I love about comedy - I think Tat's interaction was too long - and could've been mixed in between speakers. Schalk's section was great - and my mind was opened a bit to the afrikaaner experience - but I think the time could've been managed tighter. Big things we didn't get to: how cpt is more racist, the myth of white genocide & why Whites dont speak or learn black vernac (generally) Love, Josh I tweeted: https://twitter.com/Joshpmurphy/status/1137839076361592832 @Joshpmurphy More Joshua Retweeted Tats Nkonzo @TatsNkonzo @gillog @schalkiebez @RobbyCollins_ @Cath5FM ek dink racism & comes from a fixed mindset, comedy can loosen that. Thanks - it got heavy, but always #safespace love to see more of this. We didnt get to how cpt is more racist, the myth of white genocide 4 next one & why Whites dont speak or learn black vernac (generally) My advice when talking about race: qaphela ungasabi.
