Stand Up Comedy
Chester Missing
60mins

Part of Anti Racism Week 2020

presented by ARNSA

Chester Missing is South Africa’s most famous puppet, and Conrad Koch, is his double International EMMY ventriloquist with a Master’s Degree in anthropology. Chester’s even gone to court fighting racism. True story.

In this hilarious show Chester Missing demands Conrad face his own privilege, and how apartheid shaped his life. It’s personal, honest, interactive and side-splittingly funny. Ventriloquism like you have never seen it before, a puppet gets his controller to understand how colonialism created racism, the ubiquity of the English language, its devastating impact on Africa and his own sense of self.

Audience Responses

A very thoughtful piece and yet entertaining. I wish there were many people who attended to start thinking about these issues. I brought 2 African American friends who were visiting with me. They could not believe how relevant the issues raised for them as well. Keep up the good work.
