PANEL DISCUSSION : Neil Coppen, Jane Taylor and Mike Van Graan talk about this year's matric drama setworks
We are proud to be able to present a panel discussion between 3 of this years Schools Set Work playwrights: Mike Van Graan (Green Man Flashing), Neil Coppen (Abnormal Loads) and Jane Taylor (Ubu and the Truth Commission).
The discussion will be broadcast on a secure online platform, facilitated by the wonderful Kirsten Harris.
The panel will offer direct insight from 3 great playwrights on their work and process and while this is directed toward the schools curriculum, we invite all audiences with a keen interest to attend the discussion by booking a spot below.
Audience Responses
Look guys, I'm thinking about how the panel was set up to align with Matric drama setwork - and I recognise that this was the main pillar drawing everything together. But I couldn't help look at the screen and see four white people having a discussion, and know that most of the students watching are not seeing themselves represented in the panel and in the panelists' implied worldviews. Why not add another two black/PoC panelists that can add to the conversation and reflect on their experiences of the playtexts?? Or just add in whatever way them seen fit. We have to do better.
