UShakes applies a medley of Shakespearian texts to modern everyday South African life, resulting in a commentary on the consistency of human nature over centuries. Director Clara Vaughan (Noord!) together with this dynamic young cast cooks up a seshebo of politics, romance, violence, family drama and current affairs- with a seasoning of hip hop slams and hashtags. 

Audience Responses

I would give it 4 out of 5. I loved the energy and focus of the performers, the South African symbolism was so clever and the script development superb! My only suggestion would be for the actors to slow down sometimes.

The characters weren't established enough in the audience's mind so the fact that multiple characters were played by the same actor was confusing The scene transitions were also unclear

Different and interesting show, we enjoyed it
