In renowned South African playwright Zakes Mda's "And the girls in their Sunday dresses", two distinct women of the same quality find themselves trapped waiting in line for goods that may never materialise. Sharing one chair forces a cynical prostitute and an optimistic cleaner to realise their unexpected common interests. Often viewed as absurd theatre, the piece offers insight into the 1980's South African political and social landscape, and was originally performed in 1988 at the Edinburgh Festival.

"AND THE GIRLS IN THEIR SUNDAY DRESSES" is presented by arrangement with (Pty) Limited, www.dalro.co.za

*** This show forms part of a collaboration with the Market Theatre Lab and POPArt Theatre where students have learnt how to produce and tour their own shows.

A good first time theatre experience for me. I really enjoyed it.
