Their lives are changing and none of them are happy. This adaptation of Chekhov’s Three Sisters centres on the troubling relationship that the sisters have with their past, their life choices and each other. A clash between love, ambition and duty. What do you choose?
This contemporary rework of Anton Chekhov’s Three Sisters places the focus on the regrets, choices and ambitions of the three sisters. Set in a world of economic uncertainty the sisters battle and support each other. It’s a classic family crisis in a mad modern world.
The production originated as an academic study. Elements such as code-switching in Sestwana, Sesotho and Afrikaans is incorporated and the acting is aimed at truly conveying language as action to ensure a relatable experience for audiences and simultaneously to reflect the South African context.
