Kochira
Kochira is a tethering of inspiration chords from performance traditions like Rakugo - where a solo storyteller spins imaginative tales, often humorous - and contemporary theatre, inclusive of physical ritual. In addition to a giant, wooden medicine-box (the same used by traditional, roaming doctors in rural Japan) there is a profound exploration of memory and forgetting. Khutjo Green and Tristan Jacobs collaborate across performative styles, and play through dreamscapes and vocal lacerations to locate the lost clown.
Kochira is an attempt to ask after the implications of a ‘foreign-ness’, a dialogue with intercultural performance and transcultural curiosity. Sam Munro’s gripping animation, manipulating form and message, speaks back to the quizzical score composed by Vid Gobac and the flowing fabrications of Cammie Behrens’ costuming.

It was so amazing that I am coming back for more. Brilliant piece of theatre work - international standards
Kochira was a beautiful production even if all the technical elements were not fully there to support the performance. Mixed media theatre is where it's at!
