Thabang
“A lot of people would be free if they only knew they were not”.
Thabang addresses pertinent issues on violence and the ideology of freedom.
It captures moments which have greater significance in the transformation of Katleho as a young black man and interrogates if his thoughts were ever his.
The piece does not tell an obvious story with a linear narrative.
Its usage of sound, movement and performance tell stories about alienation and mental illness/distress as a result of the communities Katleho used to live in. It deals with themes of sexual and physical abuse, abandonment (fatherless households), mental illness, sexuality, intimacy, among others.
The piece aims to provoke thought and allow people to revisit certain issues they chose not to deal with. In essence we welcome the audience into a form of therapy.

Audience Responses
Loved how the two actors immersed themselves in the character. I could relate to Katlehos question around the white god black god, etc. In essense the play was very therapeutic to my at-times sad soul. I was even imagining how Katleho can turn this play into a short reading story or dialogue in a short story (ok maybe im pushing it a bit far) but nothing is impossible. Well done
