This is our third year of our partnership with the Market Theatre Laboratory, in which we bring you the freshest new work. As part of a business in theatre course, the Lab performers are taught to produce, stage and market their own shows which they will bring on tour to POPArt. This year, we are excited to present a double bill of Greek Classics refreshed and re-told by professional directors : Nondumiso Msimanga and Mahlatsi Mokgonyana. 

The Greek classic comedy by Aristophanes is about to hit POPArt stages- refreshed, revised and Africanised, as audiences have come to expect from director Mahlatsi Mokgoyana (Just Antigone, The Summoning of Everyman). In this classic fable, gender based issues are explored as the women of the town stage a sex strike in order to stop a raging war between the men. Want to know what happens when this is set in a modern day South Africa?
