PASS(ings), directed and designed by the multi-award winning Quintin Wils, puts friendship under a magnifying glass, in conversion with John Donnelly’s ‘The Pass’.

On the night before Liam’s wedding day, Liam and his estranged childhood friend, Jayden, reminisce about the past; their days as rising rugby stars, try’s, girls and glory. Together they made their first team debut. But the game started long before they’ve even walked out onto the field.

A fast paced story about friendship, stature, sex and how much you’re willing to lose in order to win. Starring the award winning talented duo of Deanre Reiners (Isidingo) and Vianney Henry Farmer (Porselein).

Overall, engrossing but a few definite limitations: language/vocabulary sometimes sounded artificial, didn't flow with the characters; political comment on Coloured identity was artificial, stereotyped, unnecessary to the plot and should be cut; in general, the scenes which were 'manic', absurd, heightened, worked best; the more naturalistic sections were a bit flat. Liked the mic scenes - gave the actor a chance to play around and engage us directly. Liked the paper image; strong visual component. May have more impact if the actors were older (or made up to seem older) - after all, they a re harking back to an incident that took place many years before the present action and have been haunted by it. Showing them as older, bruised by disappointment will heighten the impact of the pent up longing.

Keep POP(ing) at #POParttheatre. A HuMAN story that makes you realize how what is in our head gets over ruled by what can be felt by the heart. Race, sexuality and the fibre of humanity may be shape by society but we wish and need to love each other more to overcome our demons. A captivating intimate performance and arrangement. BRAVO.
